Parity Promised Ahead of 2025 Formula 1 Season

After several seasons marked by complete, utter domination by Red Bull Racing and Max Verstappen, the 2024 season began a changing of the guard. The 24-race season saw seven different race winners, from four different teams, and a Constructors’ Championship fight that came down to the end.

Following a ‘23 campaign which saw Red Bull win 21 of 22 races, it was an overdue, welcome development. Yet, ahead of the first race of the year in Melbourne, 2025 has shaped up to be even more compelling.

From a Constructors’ Championship perspective, there are four teams in line to compete for race wins -- and the title.

Last year’s winners, McLaren, start the season as a +100 favourite* but are closely followed by Ferrari (+125), with Red Bull (+500) and Mercedes (+1,400) slightly behind, due in part to less proven driver tandems than the two odds leaders.

Compare those odds to this time last year, and the increased competitiveness is jarring. Before the first flag was waved in 2024, Red Bull sat as a -600 favourite, with their closest competitor a distant +775 play (Ferrari).

Last year, as evidenced by the preseason odds, was upended by massive leaps in development from McLaren, Ferrari, and Mercedes during the season. With another long year of both driver and car development ahead, a landscape that currently sees McLaren favoured could change drastically, with a tightly packed grid at the front.

Now, that tightened field promises to carry over into a 2025 F1 season that is shaping up to be among the most competitive in years. Buckle up, it’s nearly time for the lights to go out on the new season.
