A Super Rematch Looms Over Championship Sunday

When confetti rained down onto the field at the end of Super Bowl LVII, in 2023, it was yellow and red, as the Kansas City Chiefs had stormed back from a double-digit half-time deficit to beat the Philadelphia Eagles.

Though not without controversy, the Chiefs’ 38-35 win was an instant classic in the hallowed archive of Super Bowls. Another Kansas City title and two years later, a rematch between the Chiefs and Eagles looms ahead of Championship Sunday in the NFL.

After it survived a scare from the L.A. Rams, Philadelphia finds itself back in the NFC Championship for the second time in three years.

This time around, it will meet NFC East rivals the Washington Commanders, completing a trilogy of matchups this season after they split the season series. The third and final meeting sees the Eagles favoured by six points at BET99, after closing the first two games as 4.5- and 4-point favourites, respectively.

For their part, the Chiefs are headed into a rivalry game of sorts, too. For the fourth time in five years, Kansas City will meet the Buffalo Bills in the playoffs.

Unsurprisingly, after a series of epics between these two teams and their quarterbacks, Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen, the spread is considerably narrower. Despite a nine-point win for the Bills over the Chiefs in the regular season, it’s the defending champions who enter Sunday at -2.

Should oddsmakers be proven correct on Sunday, and the Eagles and Chiefs progress to Super Bowl LIX, the ninth Super Bowl rematch in league history will await.
